I was just going through my old New England surf blog nesUrfari.com and found this great stand up paddle shot of my family. In the foreground is my wife Nicole and oldest daughter Makayla. I'm in the back with our youngest Raquel. The photo was shot by Nantucket photographer Rob Benchley and accompianied a story by Meredith Goldstein in the June 13, 2010 Sunday Boston Globe Travel section. at Rainbow Sandals Gerry Lopez Battle of the Paddle Presented by Quiksilver Waterman Collection Waikiki, Oahu, HAWAII - (May 15, 2011) -- California's Danny Ching returned to the winner's podium today at the Rainbow Sandals Gerry Lopez Battle of the Paddle. Ching finished the 9-mile Hawaii-Kai to Duke Kahanamoku Beach downwind race in a stand-up paddle record time of one hour, 20 minutes and 27 seconds - almost five minutes faster than his winning time last year.
