Aloha beaches!
We have Good Harbor back! Labor Day (Mon September 5th) is the last day of the Blackball Flag at Good Harbor Beach for the season and because of the rain you can surf ALL day. That means it is now surf season and and time for some sweet September Sessions! As I write this, Hurricane Danielle and Tropical Storm Earl are in the Atlantic. Fingers are crossed for some surf at the end of the week /next weekend.
The lifeguards are on at GHB through Sunday September 11th. However because school is back in session and there are hardly any people at at the beach you are allowed to surf all day just like the first two weeks of June. If the weather is warm and the beach gets too crowded the weekend of the 10th/11th the Blackball Flag may make an appearance. The lifeguards have the call so please respect that.
The last day for paid parking was Monday the 5th... parking is now FREE in the lot. You can still park on Nautilus Rd for your morning session but you are risking a $75 ticket for any other time besides early morning.
Things get back to normal on September 16th when Nautilus Rd opens up for parking anytime of day. We hope to see you in the water soon and pray for surf!
We have a huge selection of RENTAL surfboards and wetsuits available at the shop which is a 450 yard walk to the bridge at the beach. We also do private surf lessons as well as Women's Surf Night and Teen/Tween Surf Night through October. As always, we are fully stocked with everything you need to get in the water at the shop. We are open six days a week (closed Tuesdays)
***P.S. We'd like to give a shout out to the Lifeguards, Lifeguard Supervisor, the DPW, Mayor's office, City Council members, Cape Ann Surfers Union and surfers for working together to make the extended surfing hours pilot program work this summer.
